I have always criticized nationalism and nationalism as a form of pride and arrogance stupid rhetoric. And I grew up in the belief that not to feel chained to the tower, to a race or a culture that takes place even requiring spaghetti in a restaurant in a village in Scotland were fundamental prerequisites for acquiring knowledge and curiosity and learn to have respect for what that was different from me. But today, while taking to maintain those principles, but seeing how this country is criticized by many and the reasons and the history of its establishment, endangered, I decided to Busteasorpresa awarded the Order of the Unification of Italy, of which marks the sesquicentennial anniversary in 2011, as a blog that aspires to resemble even slightly, to everything that this country has a great ... "says the memorandum of association as" fair and measured with pride. "

The Trinacria

I opened the end of the work of my new CNC pantograph with the execution of a bas-relief depicting the Trinacria (called or even Triscele Gorgonia), or the symbol of the Earth where I was born and where I lived most of my life, Sicily.
The photos depict the table during processing and after the cut-out relief. The wood used is pine, a wood absolutely unsuitable for this type of work, but I still used to test the performance of CNC pantograph without "wasting" most precious woods.
The dimensions are very small, given that this is a square of 10 cm from the side. I hope soon to work something more substantial, but at best wood and suitable to the one used.

  • Update 06/03/2011

  • Sgrossatura : End mill da 6mm, sovrametallo 0.5mm, 2mm sinking, step 30%, 4 hours of work to 1000mm/min
  • finish: 1mm spherical tip, lateral 0.15 mm pitch, speed 1500mm/min, 11 hours of work.

Arriva la Befana

Arriva la Befana

La Befana - As has become tradition, the night of 5 January 6 and is expected the old woman best known and loved by our children. Despite
ugly, with broken shoes and clothes mended, is she the most anticipated and desired.
In the collective imagination, according to legends, fantasize astride her broomstick move across the sky, with a sack on his back stuffed with parcels and packets, and then fell down the chimney and leave presents for many children.

One of the many legends about Befana says: one evening in a very cold winter, the Kings are going to Bethlehem to adore the Child Jesus arrived near a house, knocked on the door and asked for information on the way to go.

Auguriamoci, dunque, che la Befana così come tutte le altre nostre tradizioni always continue to exist and live in our hearts, because they not only represent but enhance our ancient roots and our cultural identity.

Zuppa di cavolfiore e pere caramellate - penitenza (piccola) di Capodanno

survived all kinds of food and culinary experiment, from the classic regional and national culinary archeology, by an honest pasta with clams for crostini acrobatic of dinner, we finally arrived at the deserted beach of the refrigerator on the evening of the first day of the year. Few remains including cauliflower and half the vague memory of reading a recipe in a new book on Turkish cuisine, and just ignored a pear in the basket of fruit between mandarins, dates and figs.

The result is a soup diet is not too (but then you have to reset by degrees to a normal system) but good ... some might think to try omitting the caramelized pear, let say that would be a mistake: it is absolutely essential to the overall balance of the whole and emphasizes the taste of cauliflower.

Ingredients for 4:

1 cauliflower (florets only)

1 small white onion (or half)

1 bay leaf 250 ml cream 300 ml milk

freshly ground black pepper salt

oil

type abbot or a pear williams mature

20 g sugar 20 g butter

Wash and cut the cauliflower florets and boil them in water or steam for about 10 minutes, drain and keep aside. Stew the onion cut into thin slices in a little oil with the bay leaf, without letting it brown. Add the cauliflower florets, salt and pepper and add the cream and milk.

Servite immediatamente.
